Approach
Planning
policy has changed radically in recent years in favour of
achieving better design standards in our towns and cities.
Yet for every positive policy and framework for creating beautiful
places there are as many counter pressures for 'business as
usual' such as:-
| - |
An
under resourced public sector |
| - |
Low
quality acceptance from the market |
| - |
Developers
minimising architectural design expenditure |
| - |
Highway
authorities dictating the design of towns by holding
the 'trump card' of adoption criteria |
Somewhere
in the middle there are those in the public and private sector
- including their designers - who have to act now. We will
support those in this position who are trying to break the
barriers of delivering design quality on the ground.
